Fan Plan FAQs

What is a Fan Plan?

Fan Plans are indemnity products that sports fans can purchase for their favorite team. Fan Plans are available to buy any time during the preseason or the regular season, and if your team advances to the championship game, we cover the costs of your game tickets, airfare, hotel, meals, and other associated travel expenses, up to the total coverage amount of the Fan Plan.

When can I purchase a Fan Plan?

Fan Plans are available for sale any time during the preseason or regular season.

Are Fan Plans available for any sport?

Fan Plans are currently available for the college football national championship game. We will also begin offering Fan Plans for college basketball’s national championship during the 2018-19 season. We expect to eventually offer Fan Plans for other sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and professional soccer worldwide.

For which teams can I purchase a Fan Plan?

Fan Plans for the college football national championship game are available for all teams eligible to play in the College Football Playoff national championship game.

How do I purchase a Fan Plan?

Purchasing a Fan Plan is simple. Select the team or teams for which you would like to purchase a Fan Plan. Click on the Buy My Fan Plan button, which will take you to the shopping cart where you can make your purchase.

What is the difference between a Fan Plan for a single team and a Fan Plan for a specific matchup?

Single-team Fan Plans become valid whenever that team advances to the championship game. For Matchup Plans to become valid, the championship game much include both teams named on the Fan Plan. For example, let’s say the 2019 college football national championship game is a rematch pitting Alabama against Georgia. All single-team Fan Plans for Alabama and for Georgia would be valid and the holders of those Fan Plans would have their costs covered, up to the total coverage amount of each Fan Plan. Additionally, any holder of a Matchup Plan for Alabama vs. Georgia would also have its costs covered. However, if someone owned a Matchup Plan with just one of the participating teams – in this example say either Alabama vs. Clemson or Georgia vs. Ohio State, neither of those Fan Plans would be valid because the matchup in the championship game is Alabama vs. Georgia.

Is Fan Plan part of the College Football Playoff?

No, Fan Plan is not part of the College Football Playoff, nor is it affiliated with the NCAA or any of the conferences.

How many Fan Plans may I purchase during an individual season?

There is no limit on the number of Fan Plans an individual or entity may purchase. Please remember that the customer will be required to specify a team or a matchup at the time of the purchase of a Fan Plan, and the Fan Plan only becomes valid if that team advances to the national championship game or that specific matchup is playing in the national championship game.

Can I buy Fan Plans for multiple teams?

Yes, you may purchase Fan Plans for multiple teams. That’s actually the smart play if you know you want to attend the national championship game no matter who is playing.

How much is my Fan Plan worth?

Each Fan Plan starts with a base coverage value of $500, and you can increase that coverage amount in $500 increments, up to maximum value of $10,000 for a single Fan Plan. The total coverage value of your Fan Plan is the amount of coverage we will afford you if your team or matchup ends up in the national championship game.

Can I increase the coverage amount of my Fan Plan?

Yes. You can add additional coverage to your Fan Plan in $500 increments. Your Fan Plan can have a maximum coverage amount of $10,000. Additional coverage can be purchased at the time you purchase your Fan Plan, or at any time after your initial Fan Plan purchase. If you would like coverage of more than $10,000 for your trip, simply purchase an additional Fan Plan for that team or matchup and add additional coverage to that Fan Plan.

How much does a Fan Plan cost?

The cost of Fan Plans varies and is determined on a team-by-team basis. Each team’s Fan Plan price is based on dynamic risk models within our proprietary analytic engine that factor in a team’s real-time chance of advancing to the national championship game. The cost of a team’s Fan Plan varies from week to week based on that projected percent chance to make the championship game, along with the realities of how the season has played out. Simply put, Fan Plans will be cheaper for long shots than they will be for teams ranked in the Top 5, and a Fan Plan for a Top 5 team will be cheaper in June than when that team is 5-0 in October.

How much does the additional coverage cost?

Fans can purchase additional coverage in $500 increments. The cost of those increments is the same as the cost of that team’s Fan Plan at that time, not necessarily the cost at the time of the original Fan Plan purchase. For example, if you purchase a Fan Plan for the University of Texas in August for $20 and come back in October when the team is 6-0, the price for additional coverage will be the cost of a Fan Plan for Texas at that time, which will likely be higher than the original $20 price.

What is the best way to redeem my validated Fan Plan?

The best way is to redeem your Fan Plan is to make your ticket and travel purchases through our preferred vendors. This keeps you from coming out of pocket, unless you spend more with our preferred vendors than the total coverage amount of your Fan Plan. Once your team or matchup qualifies for the national championship game, we will validate your Fan Plan and fund your Fan Plan account with the full coverage value of your Fan Plan. Simply log into your account on our website and click on one of our preferred vendors to purchase your game tickets and book your travel. You will never have to come out of pocket unless you spend more than is available to be covered by your Fan Plan. If you do end up spending more than is in your Fan Plan account, you can simply pay the vendor the difference between the cost and what is left in your Fan Plan account. If you prefer to purchase your tickets and book your travel on your own, that’s OK too. You can then apply for a reimbursement after you get back from the game. Make sure you follow our Terms and Conditions of Sale in order to make your reimbursement claim.

What can I purchase if my team goes to the championship game?

If you hold a valid Fan Plan, you may purchase game tickets, air fare, hotel rooms, rental cars, souvenirs, meals, and any and all items associated with your trip to the national championship game.

Where can I buy game tickets?

If your team goes to the national championship game, we will validate your Fan Plan and credit your Fan Plan account with the full coverage amount of your Fan Plan. From there you can choose one of our preferred vendors and purchase your tickets from that vendor. If you spend more on your tickets than you have in your Fan Plan account, that’s OK. You just pay the difference to the ticket vendor. If you prefer to purchase your tickets outside of the Fan Plan online marketplace, that’s OK as well. You simply purchase your tickets and provide us with valid proof of purchase and we will refund the cost of those tickets, as long as you have the funds available in your Fan Plan account. Just like when purchasing in our online marketplace, if you spend more on tickets than you have in your Fan Plan account at the time you request a reimbursement, we will refund you up to the amount you have available in your Fan Plan account at the time of reimbursement. All reimbursements of expenses incurred outside of our marketplace, including the requirement that there be a valid proof of purchase provided for all requested reimbursement, must comply with all of Fan Plan’s Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Does the purchase process for travel work the same as event tickets?

Yes, it is identical. If there are travel vendors within our online marketplace, you may purchase from those vendors without having to come out of pocket (we are continually working to add additional vendors to our online marketplace in order to make your experience simpler and more enjoyable). If you choose to purchase travel outside of our online marketplace, or if you have other trip-related expenses such as souvenirs, meals, etc., simply provide us with proof of purchase and we will refund those expenses, up to the amount of coverage you have remaining in your Fan Plan account at the time of the reimbursement request. All reimbursements of expenses incurred outside of our online marketplace, including the requirement that there be a valid proof of purchase provided for all requested reimbursement, must comply with all of Fan Plan’s Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Do I have to purchase event tickets before I purchase travel?

No, there is no requirement that event tickets be purchased prior to travel, nor is there even a requirement that event tickets be purchased at all. Some fans may decide to look for a ticket deal outside of the stadium and use their Fan Plan coverage to cover their travel expenses only. It’s your choice as to which expenses you want your Fan Plan to cover, as long as all expenses are incurred within our online marketplace or all reimbursable expenses comply with all of Fan Plan’s Terms and Conditions of Sale.

If I file for a reimbursement, what is the filing deadline and how long after I file my claim will it take to receive my reimbursement from Fan Plan?

As further described in the Fan Plan Terms and Conditions of Sale, fans that have incurred an expense outside of the online vendor marketplace, are eligible to file for a reimbursement of approved expenses. However, there is a deadline for filing for a reimbursement electronically. All reimbursement requests must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm Central Time on the 30th day after the conclusion of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game for which the Fan Plan was purchased. Once a reimbursement claim has been made, you will receive your reimbursement from Fan Plan within 15 business days after submitting all of the required reimbursement materials.

What if I make a reimbursement claim for expenses that exceed the amount of coverage available in my Fan Plan account?

If this is the case, we will reimburse all reimbursable expenses (as described in the Terms and Conditions of Sale) up to the total coverage amount that remains in your Fan Plan account at the time the reimbursement request is processed. Under no circumstances will Fan Plan provide a reimbursement that exceeds the amount of coverage available in your Fan Plan account at the time the reimbursement request is processed.

Are Fan Plans insurance?

No, Fan Plans are not insurance. Fan Plan offers prize indemnification agreements to fans.

Is Fan Plan a gambling website?

No, Fan Plan is in no way a gambling website. Fans who receive a reimbursement from Fan Plan have incurred a loss which their prize indemnity agreement (their Fan Plan) covers.

Does purchasing a Fan Plan guarantee me a ticket to the game?

No. Fan Plan is not an originator of tickets, nor does it have ticket inventory to sell. Fan Plan is also not a travel agency. Fan Plan offers prize indemnity agreements which qualify the holder of a valid Fan Plan for a reimbursement of the total coverage value of the Fan Plan in the event the customer is able to acquire game tickets or incurs travel expenses.

Do I have to pay additional fees or costs once I purchase my Fan Plan?

No, once you purchase your Fan Plan, that’s it … the Fan Plan is yours without any more costs or fees. If you were smart enough to purchase a Fan Plan with $1,000 of coverage for just $50 and your team’s Fan Plan price ultimately shoots up to $250 for the same $1,000 of coverage, consider yourself a college football genius and if your team goes to the national championship game, you have $1,000 of coverage to spend on tickets and travel.

Can I pull money out of my Fan Plan account?

No, there is actually no “money” in your Fan Plan account. We provide credits, and our vendors accept those credits in exchange for goods or services you purchase. We then reimburse our vendors for the Fan Plan purchases that you made.

What if I do not spend all of the money in my Fan Plan account?

Again, there is no actual “money” in your Fan Plan account. We provide credits, and our vendors accept those credits for your purchases. If you incur a travel expense outside of our online vendor marketplace, you can make a claim for a reimbursement of those expenses (please follow the Terms and Conditions of Sale in making said claim), and we will reimburse you up to the amount you have remaining in your Fan Plan account. If your reimbursable expenses do no exceed the number of credits in your Fan Plan account, those credits expire.

If my team or matchup does not make it to the championship game, does my Fan Plan carry over to another season?

No, your Fan Plan is only eligible for the College Football Playoff national championship game that is played during the same season for which you purchased your Fan Plan.

How often do prices change for Fan Plans?

Prices are dynamic and may change at any time. Prices change based on updated chances of a team advancing to the national championship game, which are affected by player availability, a team’s wins and losses, opponents’ wins and losses, strength of schedule, key injuries, and other factors. We also consider risk into the equation, so the number of Fan Plans purchased for a particular team or matchup also affects the Fan Plan pricing for that team.
